Green Flag 3/30/2025 Teams of 2-4 drivers. $500 per team.
Minimum number of teams 10, max number of teams 12. All adult kart drivers must be over the age of 16 years old. If they are not over 15 they must be over the height of 56" and qualified out of our junior karts.
Divisions: All teams will be run under the same divisions
Objective: 3-hour endurance race. The team to complete the most laps in 180 minutes wins the race. If 2 teams complete the same number of laps, the team who crosses the line first is declared the winner. Each team is required to make 8 mandatory driver exchanges and 2 mandatory kart exchanges throughout the race.
Kart designation: Karts and starting positions will be randomly drawn before the race. Start: There will be a Le Mans style start. A LeMans start is when the karts are backed up against the wall running. When the green flag is waived, the starting driver will run from the starting point to their kart. They will hop into their kart as fast as possible and have their seat belt buckled BEFORE their kart moves. Pulling out before your seat belt is buckled will result in a black flag stop and go penalty. All seat and pedal adjustments will be made prior to the waving of the green flag for the starting driver.
Yellow: The yellow flag and yellow lights will come on if a kart is stuck on the track. If the yellow lights come on that means a track marshal must run onto the track and fix a situation. When the yellow comes out you must slow down to half speed. NO PASSING. If you are caught speeding under caution, you will be black flagged once the green flag comes back out.
Blue Flag: There are 2 situations where you will receive a blue flag. First will be standing blue flag. If a driver is shown a standing blue flag all it means is there is a faster driver approaching, it is up to the driver whether they want to move over, it is just a warning. Second you will receive a blue flag for excessive blocking. You have one move to defend your position on the track. If we see someone blocking another driver, we will give you a waved blue flag requiring you to move over. If you do not move over the driver will be shown the black flag and will have to receive a 5 second penalty. If a blue flag is given ONLY the driver directly behind the car given the blue flag has the right to pass. The third driver in line cannot pass, if they do, we will give you a warning to swap positions back, if the driver does not, they will be black flagged.
Black Flag: A black flag is given by the discretion of the track marshals. If given a black flag a driver has 2 laps from the time, they are given the black flag to report to the pits and access a stop and go penalty. Bumping: NO BUMPING! Side to side and front to back contact will not be tolerated. The track marshal will use their discretion to enforce the black flag penalty for anyone guilty of bumping. (Right away: A driver has the right of way when the nose of the kart is up to the steering wheel of the drivers kart whom they are passing, while holding the inside line going into a corner.)
Driver Exchanges: Each team will have to make a mandatory 8 driver exchanges in the race. Exchanges can be made at any time during green flag racing conditions. You may not exchange drivers under yellow or red. If you enter the pits under green and racing conditions, go to yellow or red, you may finish your exchange. There are no stops and goes, each exchange must be a driver exchange. Teams should only be in the pits if they are doing an exchange. During an exchange you may have the driver getting in, the driver getting out, and 1 helper for the stops. Once the stop is completed, please exit the pits. After a stop be sure to check in with the pit marshal to confirm check off of the swap. Sometimes Multiple swaps are going on at once. Whatever is on the pit marshal board is official.
Kart Swap: Each team will have to complete two mandatory kart swaps in the race. The driver executing the kart swap will pull their kart into the back of the row. You may not exchange drivers during a kart exchange. If you do not make a kart swap in the race your team will be disqualified. REMINDER THE KARTS RUN ROUGLY 150 MINS ON FUEL. Each kart will be filled to the top; it is up to your team to monitor your fuel consumption as the race goes on and when you will need to make a kart swap. You may swap karts as many times as you want; your team only needs to make TWO mandatory swaps.
Driver Conduct: Any driver who argue with officials or other drivers are subject to penalties on the track. Racing is a very competitive sport; just remember we are all here for fun and to have a good time.
Karts: All kart maintenance will be done by LVGP staff only. Any modifications by participants will result in immediate disqualification. If a kart breaks down during the race or you feel that there is a problem with your kart, we will switch you into another kart and replace the time you lost as close as we can. If there is nothing wrong with the kart after it is inspected by the LVGP staff, you will not receive your time back onto the race.
White flag: One lap remaining in the race.
Checked flag: Checkered flag ends the race. Make sure you drive through the checked flag. Once everyone has crossed the start finish line the yellow lights will come on
